At about noon on July 9, 1850, the Báb was martyred, shot against a wall in Tabriz. A youthful believer, Anis, was executed with Him. One hundred and fifty years later, Bahá'í communities in thousands of cities around the world gather on the date of the Báb's martyrdom to remember these great sacrifices. This book brings together, for easy reference, passages and quotations from Bahá'í literature concerning the Báb, His station, and His martyrdom. It includes selections from the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh, of the Báb, of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, and of Shoghi Effendi, as five different narrative histories and eyewitness accounts to provide a full known record of the events surrounding the Bab's martyrdom. It is our hope that this short compilation will contribute toward a deeper understanding of the history of the martyrdom of the Báb, and provide a handy source for believers planning Holy Day commemorations, and those who wish to deepen on the event.
